The Dubois Branch Library will host the second Book Excavation for Summer Reading 2026. Enjoy an evening of light refreshments and good books as you sample a variety of works in diverse genres. Participants will rotate between tables containing different book genres until they have had a chance to investigate all of them. You just might find a new favorite in the process!
The books used in this program are of different genres but all connect in some way with 2026’s summer reading theme, “Unearth a Story.” Explore how the present connects with the past through the literary time travel genre. Get a new perspective on familiar historical figures with fiction about the people behind the scenes. Follow objects and places through time in novels that chart the movements and effects of history. Learn the stories of the earth itself with nonfiction about the history of the land and our relationship with it. Discover the evolution of the artistic depiction of dinosaurs and other extinct animals in books about the growing genre of paleoart. And finally, see how accurately pioneering science fiction writers predicted their future (and our present).
