Wyoming Highway Patrol shared two people died in a one-vehicle crash west of Cheyenne on January 7th.
The driver has been identified as 21-year-old Jacob Harrold, of Laramie, and 18-year-old Cheyenne resident Annalyssa Warner was the passenger, according to WHP. Both succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the crash.
Just before 7:30 am, WHP responded to the crash near milepost 21 on Wyoming 210 west of Cheyenne.
“A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was headed east on Wyoming 210 around milepost 21 when the driver failed to negotiate a curve to the right and exited the road’s left side,” according to WHP. “The driver steered back to the right before overcorrecting to the left. The vehicle left the roadway a second time before colliding with a rock embankment.”
WHP has reported that neither Harrold nor Warner were wearing their seatbelts.
“Driver inattention, speed, and alcohol use are being investigated as possible contributing factors.”
These are the 5th and 6th fatalities on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 2 in 2020, 7 in 2019, and 1 in 2018 to date.
