(Lander, WY) – Ten Wyoming singer/songwriters, both local and from as far away as Saratoga, took to the City Park stage last Friday night for the Lander qualifying round of the annual Wyoming Singer-Songwriter Competition, a “statewide celebration of original music, creativity, and community connection.”
Each artist performed three original songs, after which judges selected the top performers and individual songs, and audience members also chose their favorites.
In addition to the Fremont musicians who shared their original tunes, local band Nightfire played throughout the night before the competitors performed and during the intermission.

New this year, the competition also partnered with the Wyoming Arts Council to introduce a new State Song Competition to “create a song that reflects the spirit of Wyoming today,” in addition to the normal Singer-Songwriter Competition. The results of that contest will be announced at the Competition finale in Ten Sleep over Labor Day weekend.
