(Hot Springs County, WY) – The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Flash Flood Warning for south-central Hot Springs County, including East Thermopolis, effective until 1:30 AM, July 16.
The NWSR shared that at 11:35 PM, local law enforcement reported ongoing flash flooding from recent thunderstorms along Buffalo Creek and Buffalo Creek Rd in East Thermopolis, and along Kirby Creek toward Lucerne.

Flash flooding is expected for small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
The NWSR says that flooding is likely to occur in Hot Springs State Park, including the following streams and drainages: Owl Creek, Twin Buttes Draw, Bighorn River, Kirby Creek, Middle Fork Warm Springs Creek, Black Willow Draw, Buffalo Creek, and Warm Springs Creek.
“Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding,” the NWST advises. “Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.”
