(Fremont County, WY) – The Fremont County ambulance contract with AMR is up at the end of June this year, and the new contract is currently undergoing revisions.
AMR Regional Program Director Matt Strauss shared during the Fremont County Commissioners’ meeting today, February 9th, “AMR is not interested in pursuing the current contract effective July 1st. Our intent is to continue moving forward with negotiations.”
Spearheading the contract revision are Fremont County Commissioners Larry Allen and Mike Jones along with Chief Civil Deputy Jodi Darrough. Cleaning up the language was noted as one of the bigger revisions in the contract which will be firmed up by Tuesday, February 16th.
The updated contract would also state that dispatching would be done through the Fremont County Dispatch Center and an update to insurance coverage on the vehicles.
A new request for proposals (RFP) will be sent out for ambulance service and Commission Chair Travis Becker shared he thinks there will several interested parties.
Also present at today’s meeting was Harold Albright and Margaret Wells of the Upper Wind River Ambulance Association which covers the Dubois and Crowheart areas. They asked to be part of the contract discussions due to concerns about the area losing coverage. If that were to happen they want to be prepared.
Harold shared they would ideally like to have the same level of coverage that they did in the spring of 2015 which was 24/7/365.
