(Hot Springs County, WY) – The Fremont County Fire Protection District has shared the following release concerning the Coyote Run Fire, which began burning yesterday, July 1, just southwest of Thermopolis.
The Fremont County Fire Protection District had deployed two Type 6 wildland engines to assist the Thermopolis Fire Department with the Coyote Run Fire, currently burning near Thermopolis on July 1st. Fremont County crews were assisting until Midnight.
Multiple local, county, state, and federal resources are working together to suppress the fire under challenging conditions, including high temperatures, dry fuels, and rugged terrain. Fremont County Fire responded quickly following a mutual aid request, sending personnel and apparatus to support overall firefighting efforts.
Fire weather conditions across the Wind River Basin have been fluctuating between Very High and Extreme, increasing the risk of wildfire activity and making suppression efforts more difficult.
Public Safety Reminder: Due to the elevated fire danger, the Fremont County Fire Protection District strongly urges the public to use extreme caution with campfires, outdoor burning, and fireworks. The Watch Duty App indicates that the Coyote Run Fire is still active as of this afternoon, and burning at 167.9 acres. The nearby Hall Fire reached over 1,000 acres, but is contained at this time.
