The Garden Expo is this Saturday, April 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lander Valley High School (350 Baldwin Creek Road).
Free workshops will be going on throughout the day with two to choose from every hour, except during the keynote speaker 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
New this year!! Linda Williamson, Food Farmacie, is providing a 2.5 hour, hands-on fermentation workshop that requires pre-registration and $25 pre-payment. The same class is offered twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Click here for more information and to sign up.

Garden Soil Health Through the Seasons
Join Dr. Caitlin Youngquist to explore the First Principles of soil and ecosystem function and how to apply them in the garden. Caitlin will talk about the biological, chemical, and physical components of thriving garden soils and what you can do year round.
What Vegetable Varieties To Grow In Wyoming
This workshop will cover how to identify varieties suited to our climate, which ones have become our favorites based on productivity and reliability, and why they stand out. You’ll also learn what traits to look for when evaluating new varieties and how to weed out those that are unlikely to succeed in our region.
Container Gardening
There is no better way to enjoy beautiful flowers for the summer than learning the art of container gardening. Griff and Ruth will share how to successfully grow in containers. Learn all the tips and tricks to create beautiful flowerpots.
Gardening With Children
Gardening with children can increase their decision making as well as fine motor skills. Reluctant eaters will be more willing to try food they helped choose, grow, and harvest. This session will cover different theme gardens as well as ideas for kid’s activities in the garden.
What’s Wrong With My Plant: Plant Diagnostics 101
Plants get sick too. Figuring out the problem is the challenge and what, if anything, can be done. We will talk mostly about trees, shrubs, and flowers but once you can identify the problems and solutions, you can improve plant health from landscapes, to gardens, to house plants.
Edible Landscaping
Edible landscapes (foodscapes) turn patios, yards, and community spaces into attractive, productive ecosystems. This session will examine how to incorporate fruits, herbs, vegetables, flowers, and pollinator-friendly plants into your existing landscape.
Weed Management: Big Problems in Little Places
Learn how to manage invasive weeds and other impactful vegetation in lawn and garden environments. The discussion will include how weeds are introduced, a weed’s lifecycle (timing is important), methods of controls, and prevention.
How to Kill a Tree
We will discuss common mistakes people make with planting, pruning, and watering which can kill a tree. You’ll learn how to give your tree a good start and how to spot warning signs of trouble. Little things we do can keep your trees healthy and thriving.
Outdoor Rec: Be Prepared, Manage Risk, & Stay Comfortable
Gain knowledge on how to enjoy the outdoors more confidently. This presentation explores how to effectively prepare for outdoor activities by identifying potential risks and planning ahead. Learn practical strategies for staying safe, managing unexpected situations, and maintaining comfort in various environments.
In addition to the workshops, the Garden Expo has a trade show, activities for the kids, concessions, and more. This is a family-friendly event!
