It’s safe to say we are not alone when it comes to smoky conditions. The latest update on the Fire and Smoke Map shows the majority of the U.S. is also blanketed in a haze.
The National Weather Service Riverton has issued an Air Quality Alert for the southeast, western, and central portions of Wyoming effective until 10:00 am on September 17th. Click here for more info.
Numerous fires on the western side of the U.S. continue to burn, and weather patterns this week have moved the smoke east. Conditions are expected to last at least through Friday.
Currently, Wyoming only has one active fire the Lone Star Fire in Yellowstone which started at the end of August. The lighting-caused fire has now burned over 3,900 acres, according to the latest update.
Hot and dry conditions continue across Wyoming increasing fire danger. So far, none of the fire bans have been lifted following last week’s snowstorm.
