UPDATE – Dave Lipson has provided updated snowfall totals, which are less significant than originally predicted, but are still leading to road impacts in the area. Riverton, Shoshoni, and Lander are looking at 2-4 inches, 4-6 inches for Beaver Rim, and as much as 6-8 inches on the eastern slope of the Wind River Mountains
(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that there will be a surface low-pressure center organizing over southeast Wyoming today, March 18, bringing with it plenty of cold air and moisture in the form of a cold front this morning.
Lipson added that there will be a mid-level circulation or low-pressure center tracking east across central Wyoming today as well. These features combined will lead to cloudy skies and heavy snow throughout the day. Blustery north winds gusting up to 30 mh are likely as well.
In terms of snow totals, Shoshoni looks to get 2-4 inches, 3-6 inches in Riverton, 6-12 inches in Lander, and 10-15 inches in Beaver Rim, with the Sinks Canyon/South Pass/East slope of the Wind River Mountains looking at the possibility of 20-24 inches.
Lingering snow showers are expected into this evening, followed by mostly cloudy skies.
High temperatures will be in the 30’s for most today, with lows tonight in the 20’s.
