(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that for today, May 30, the expected low-pressure center will track to Wyoming for a likelihood of showers and thunderstorms today. We could see a tenth to a quarter inch of rainfall, with even more localized amounts than that from any individual heavier thunderstorms today.
Due to the clouds and rainfall, highs will be much cooler, around 70 degrees. Southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph can be expected. Some thunderstorms may produce 40 mph wind gusts and small hail.
Tonight’s showers and possible thunderstorms will mainly be before midnight, bringing southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph for most areas and 25 to 35 mph in southeast Fremont County, including Jeffrey City. We can expect a tenth of an inch of additional rainfall, with higher amounts possible during thunderstorms, and lows around 50 degrees. Rain will turn to snow above 8,000 feet in the surrounding mountains.
For tomorrow, Sunday, the low-pressure center will track toward Montana. We can expect some wraparound moisture around the backside of the low, which will rotate into the area for fewer, scattered showers and afternoon thunderstorms. Highs will be near 70 degrees once again. West winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected for most areas, with gusts of 40 to 45 mph in southeast Fremont County, including Jeffrey City. The precipitation will be mainly all snow above 9,300 feet in the central and northern Wind River Mountains, and Togwotee Pass could see 3 to 5 inches of snow by the end of the day Sunday.
