(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, February 1, will have southwest winds gusting up to 40 mph as a strong Pacific surge moves through the area, with partly to mostly cloudy skies tonight.
Lipson also shared that the Wind River Mountains will experience snow due to the associated moisture from the Pacific surge, which means 6-12 inches of accumulation for the South Pass area, and 1-2 feet of snow for Togwotee Pass (maybe even 3 feet) by the end of Sunday.
Snow flurries are likely for the Lander foothills this weekend, Lipson advises, as are wind gusts of 50-60 mph for the South Pass area on Saturday.
The National Weather Service in Riverton also reported that those strong/high winds continue from South Pass to Casper, including the Wind River and Absaroka Mountains.
High temperatures will be in the 30’s for most areas today, with lows tonight in the 20’s and teens.
