(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that one more very strong Pacific trough will be swinging across the area today, March 22, which will increase the pressure gradient and result in very strong west winds gusting up to 50 mph.
We could see isolated showers under partly cloudy skies and the eastern/southeast portions of Fremont County could actually see some isolated thunderstorms, Lipson added, including Moneta and Jeffrey City.
Lipson also shared that the South Pass areas could experience extreme wind gusts of 70-80 mph above Red Canyon, and that the upper reaches of South Pass may recieve 2 to 3 inches of wet snow along with blowing and drifting snow. 5 to 10 inches of new snow, along with some blowing/drifting snow, is also expected for Togwotee Pass.
For tonight, winds will shift to the northwest, gusting up to 55 mph, then diminishing by midnight under partly cloudy skies.
The National Weather Service in Riverton also reported that an early spring storm will bring another round of snow to the western mountains today. Some higher elevations may receive 6 to 12 inches of fresh snow. High Wind Warnings are also in effect for central Wyoming.
High temperatures will be in the 40’s for most today, with lows tonight in the 20’s.
