(Riverton, WY) – Wyoming-based American Folk band NOISEfolk visited Riverton Monday night for the second-to-last edition of Hot Notes Cool Nites. The show was moved from City Park to the Peck Performing Arts Center last minute due to high winds and rain moving into the area.

NOISEfolk brought its offbeat take on Americana roots music inside the auditorium after the CWC Community Band played a handful of songs for around thirty minutes. The NOISEfolk project, fronted by Wyoming songwriter and economist J Shogren, pairs fiddle, upright bass, and acoustic guitar with subtle electronics and noise, traditional music filtered through a dissonant transmitter. Shogren, who contributed to the Nobel Peace Prize-winning work of the IPCC, has performed everywhere from the Kennedy Center to Rocky Mountain bars and festivals, and his shows mix gravity, absurdity, and heart. The band’s new self-titled EP is out now on Spotify and Bandcamp.
