(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, September 6, will be mostly sunny and quite warm, with a high in the upper 80s and south-southwest winds increasing in the afternoon.
Wind speeds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 35 mph are the result of an increasing pressure gradient as we sit between a strong ridge of high pressure over the southern and central plains and an expanding trough of low pressure over the Pacific Northwest.
Tonight, we can expect scattered evening thunderstorms as we get another taste of some incoming monsoonal moisture from the south, and some of these storms may produce wind gusts as high as 50 mph for brief periods of time. Otherwise, Lipson says we can expect a prevailing south wind of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 35 mph, along with lows around 60 degrees.
For tomorrow, Labor Day, temperatures will be cooler as southwest winds gusting up to 35 mph ahead of an approaching vigorous shortwave trough and an associated cool front usher in cooler air. Under mostly sunny skies, the high will be around 80 degrees, and we could see some isolated thunderstorms over the higher terrain.
