A bill to extend Medicaid coverage in Wyoming passed its 3rd reading in the House of Representatives today, March 24th. With a final vote of 32-28 in favor, the bill now heads to the Senate.
Fremont County House District Representatives Andi Clifford (bill co-sponsor), Lloyd Larsen, and Ember Oakley all voted in favor, and Representatives Pepper Ottman and John Winter both voted against.
HB0162 – Medical treatment opportunity act would provide coverage to tens of thousands of uninsured Wyomingites and generate savings of $34 million in state general funds, according to the statewide coalition Healthy Wyoming.
Wyoming is one of only 12 states that has not adopted Medicaid Expansion. The Wyoming legislature has rejected expansion bills in the past.
