(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, February 18, another upper-level trough of low pressure will approach the area from the Great Basin, and at the same time, a surface low-pressure center will track from Salt Lake City to northeast Colorado today through tonight.
This will lead to increasing clouds today with rain and snow showers developing by this afternoon. These showers will also be supported by a rather unstable atmosphere, with a high in the low 40s today.
Snow will fall in the Wind River Mountains today, with around 2 inches of new snow expected by the end of the day. Expect southwest winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour.
For tonight, snow will continue in the mountains and in the basin. A cold front behind the surface low will drop temperatures to around 10 degrees tonight. Expect blustery west winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour to shift to the northeast at 25 to 35 miles per hour with around three inches of new, much-needed snow in Riverton by morning, with five inches in Lander, six to nine inches of new snow on South Pass, and nine to 12 inches on Togwotee Pass.
