UPDATE: August 23 – The fire was reported 100% contained and reduced to 5 acres yesterday evening, August 22, as per the National Interagency Fire Center and the Watch Duty app.
UPDATE: Shared from the USDA Forest Service – Shoshone National Forest Facebook page at 4:50 PM: “The Indian Ridge Fire located in the Canyon Creek Drainage on the Washakie Ranger District is approximately 15 acres. Multiple local engines are working to suppress the fire with the assistance of a type 3 helicopter. Additional resources have been ordered.”
UPDATE: The acreage has been updated to 15 acres as of about 1:10 PM, per the Watch Duty app.
(Fremont County, WY) – Scanner traffic reports made this morning, August 21, indicated that crews were paged to difficult-to-access areas near Upper Silas Lake and Limestone Mountain, northwest of Atlantic City and southwest of Lander, for reports of fire/smoke.
According to the National Interagency Fire Center and the Watch Duty app , the fire has been dubbed the Indian Ridge Fire, and is burning at 20 acres.
The cause of the fire is unconfirmed at this time, and further details are limited. County 10 will provide updates as we obtain them.
