“I think the thing that would help out Fremont County is just people listening, being willing to listen and open up to new ideas. That’s how we could start making a change, listening,” Jazmine Wildcat, a soon-to-be junior at Riverton High School, told the County 10 Podcast.
Jazmine’s mom, Jenni, agreed.
The two weren’t on the same page, however, when it came to a question about back-to-school. “I’m kind of excited about it” Jenni, who serves on the Fremont County School District #25 Board, told us. “I’m not as excited,” replied Jazmine.
The Wildcat’s have been active this summer, but that doesn’t seem like it’s an unusual thing for them.
They both have been working with the Special Olympics Riverton softball team. The squad is heading to the Summer Sports Classic in Casper for a third year in a row this weekend. And – they’re good, real good. They’ve won back-to-back championships at the classic.
Jazmine and her older sister have both been leaders behind Wyoming’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons rallies, eventually leading to Governor Mark Gordon creating a task force on the issue.
She has also been featured nationally in an article from Teen Vogue after speaking out on the issue of gun control.
Jenni and Jazmine were both part of the Riverton Community Engagement Committee meeting, Jenni noted that Jazmine was likely the youngest person there.
Additionally, Jazmine tells us, she makes balloon animals.
