70-year-old Jose “Pepe” Pereda of Arapahoe went missing on September 5th, 2018 around 11:30 am. in Riverton. Pereda was believed to be headed to the Sanddraw landfill. Search parties on foot, aircraft, and ATV were organized by authorities within 48 hours of his disappearance.
Fremont County Sheriff’s Office announced on September 21st, 2018 that Pereda’s truck had been found stuck in a large washout along a Pipeline Road about 10 miles east of Riverton, near Highway 136 (Gas Hills Road). Search operations broke out again with local authorities and volunteers. No other signs or clues to Pereda’s whereabouts have been found.
This case is assigned to a Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Special Agent for further investigation.
The Wind River Agency, BIA OJS, confirmed with County 10 this week that there have been no new developments in their continued investigation.
