(Fremont County, WY) – Earlier today, July 31, County 10 shared details on what was reported as a gas line explosion that occurred in the Lysite area, according to scanner traffic made at the time, specifically in the 2700 block of Badwater Road.
While early speculation indicated the explosion happened at the Lost Cabin Gas Plant, County 10 has confirmed that it stemmed from an incident at one of the meter stations on the Kinder Morgan Colorado Interstate Gas Pipeline.
“At approximately 11:07 a.m. MT today, Kinder Morgan’s Colorado Interstate Gas Pipeline experienced a fire at one of its meter stations in Fremont County, Wyoming,” a Kinder Morgan representative shared with County 10. “One employee has been transported to a medical facility for reported injuries.”
“Following the event, the company is working to isolate the pipeline. Regulatory agencies have been notified, and emergency responders have arrived at the scene. A follow-up investigation will be conducted. The company is working with its customers on impacts.”
Fremont County Fire Protection District Chief Wempen has also since confirmed that there is currently no risk to the public, but that the immediate area is closed off.
The status of the injured individual is unknown at this time, but the most recent scanner update informed that they had been transported to Sage West for medical attention.
