(Lander, WY) – The Lander girls were able to secure a comfortable victory over Mountainview at Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night in Lander. The Lady Tigers, who are currently ranked #2 behind Cody, were able to build a lead in the first half and maintain it in the second. They consistently overwhelmed Mountainview on the defensive side of the ball, converting turnovers into points. Offensive rebounding helped the Lady Tigers get second and third chances at points throughout the game.
Even with seniors Breanna Lincoln and Hayden Goggles sidelined for the night, the Lady Tigers showed they were clearly the better team. Paisley Hollingshead had a big game with 12 points, adding speed on fast breaks from Lady Tiger steals. Daisy Goklish repeatedly drove to the basket, not shying away from contact, adding 19 to the Lander tally.
The 2006 Lady Tiger state championship team was honored in between the boys and girls games to recognize the 20th anniversary of the last girls’ state championship won by the school and to wish this promising Lady Tiger team the best in their bid at state this year.

The girls weren’t as fortunate on Saturday, picking up a loss away at Wheatland 46-57.
Next week, the Lady Tigers will visit Lyman, where they’ll play at 4 p.m.
