(Fremont County, WY) – Riverton Mayor Tim Hancock and Lander Mayor Monte Richardson met together to discuss football, and a friendly wager this week. Riverton’s Wolverines host Lander’s Tigers for the 128th time, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. Friday night.
County 10 proposed an idea to both gentlemen with intent to drive community spirit between the two towns, show the strength of working together and to frankly, have a little fun too.
The Bet: The Mayor that represents the losing team owes the Mayor that represents the winning team, at least one hour of community service.
A concrete plan will be confirmed by both individuals after the Friday result, however both town officials agreed that a “community clean up day” would be ideal.
“I thought it was a great idea, Mayor Hancock shared. “When it was brought up I was waiting to see if Monte was going to be game with it because I was from the get go.” Mayor Richardson agreed, “I think it’s a good opportunity to show the public that we do work together. Tim and I have worked together now two years, great guy and works in a great community and I feel I have a great community also.”
After Friday’s “Keeper of the Gold” game, County 10 will share plans for the Mayoral Community Service Day. We’d also like to invite anyone, from any community, to help beautify our communities. Details coming soon!
