(Lander, WY) – The Lander Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Community Awards Luncheon on March 20 at the Lander Community and Convention Center, where various businesses and individuals were recognized for their contributions to the town of Lander.
Awards are given out for longevity, beautification, innovation/creativity, community involvement, and contributions over a lifetime.
The luncheon was MC’d by Chamber Executive Director Brian Fabel, his first big Chamber event after being chosen for the position last month following previous Director Owen Sweeney’s departure. (Fabel previously served as Executive Director of the Lander Chamber from 2014 to 2019.) Before proceeding with announcing the award winners, Fabel shared a photo of himself as a child, playing with Legos, as well as a photo of his son, also playing with Legos, and related his lifelong love of building things to what he wants to accomplish with the Lander Chamber.
This year’s Community Award recipients, and individusls who accepted the awards, included:
- Rookie of the Year Award – The Rock Shop Inn (Anthony Prate)
- Beautification Award – Country Charm (Tammy Logue)
- Anchor Award – Clark and Lynnette McInroy and Wind River Home Oxygen (Kirsten Brown, Bri Hinson, Rheanna Burt)
- Lander Ambassador of the Year – Dr. Mikel Weideman with Lander Vision Source
- Spirit of Lander Award – Lander Valley High School FBLA (Kellen Freedman)
- Past President – Tom Davis
- Lifetime Contribution Award – The late Monte Richardson, former Mayor of Lander (Deb and Charlie Richardson)

The luncheon concluded with an address from keynote speaker Jessica Moore, the Sinks Canyon State Park Superintendent, who shared her story on how she ended up in the Superintendent role, highlighted all of the events/programs Sinks Canyon State Park offers, and discussed the overall important role the park plays in tourism for our area.
