(Lander, WY) – The Lander Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Community Awards Luncheon presented in 2025 by Fremont Toyota (tickets here) on Friday, February 14 at the Lander Community & Convention Center.
Hosted for more than two decades by the Lander Chamber, the popular annual event is the top local business gathering of the year. The Chamber awards six recipients each year to recognize businesses, individuals, and organizations who have demonstrated longevity, beautification, innovation and creativity, community involvement, and contributions made over a lifetime.
“We love the Community Awards Luncheon,” said Chamber CEO Owen Sweeney, “which is truly a community-wide event. It’s not just our members who get to nominate recipients, but also members of the general public. Not only do chamber members get to win, but any business, organization, or individual can also be recognized. While Lander’s a pretty small town, it’s still easy for people’s efforts to be unnoticed or overlooked; these awards aim to shine a brighter light on those folks.”
The speaker for this year’s luncheon will be Wyoming Catholic College President Kyle Washut. “Each year, after we’ve presented the awards, we invite an engaging speaker to address the crowd on a timely topic,” explained Sweeney, “and a very hot topic right now is removing mobile phones from public school classrooms. Many schools have already done it, and a bill has even been introduced in the current legislative session to make it a statewide policy. President Washut is truly the perfect person to speak on this topic, as Wyoming Catholic gained national attention years ago by being among the very first educational institutions in the country to adopt a formal policy keeping mobile phones out of the classroom. He can speak with authority on how that decision has impacted campus culture and student development.”
