(Lander, WY) – The Lander Chamber of Commerce will host its 2025 Community Awards Luncheon on Friday, February 14 at the Lander Community & Convention Center.
A celebration of the Lander business community and the individuals within it, the luncheon is an annual opportunity to come together in one place to recognize in a public way the efforts of the men and women who put so much time and effort into building their businesses, creating jobs for Fremont County’s residents, supporting the community, and in general making Lander a great place to live, work, and play.
The Anchor Award recognizes longevity and standing the challenge of time. The Beautification Award acknowledges outstanding business appearance. The Rookie of the Year Award honors innovation and creativity. The Spirit of Lander Award recognizes igniting enthusiasm through participation, and the Lifetime Contribution Award honors longstanding commitment to the community. Previous years’ winners are listed here on the Lander Chamber’s website. The Chamber also awards the organization’s outgoing board president, and the Lander Ambassadors recognize their Ambassador of the Year.
The speaker at this year’s luncheon will be Wyoming Catholic College President Kyle Washut, who will be speaking on the college’s trend-setting policy of limiting cell phone usage on its campus. “We’ve been asked what relevance this topic has to the business community,” said Lander Chamber CEO Owen Sweeney, “and our response is that what formation our students are receiving — or not receiving — in the classroom is directly relevant to the quality of our workforce. We’ve all experienced walking into a business only to be ignored by an employee who can’t take his eyes off his cell phone. We want to hear from President Washut what impact that policy has had on the development of its students and whether it will make them better members of our workforce and society in general.”
