Fremont County School District #1 approved its Smart Start Plan for the 2020-21 school year to be submitted to the Wyoming Department of Education for review on July 21st.
Following this approval, the Lander Education Association (LEA) released a statement “calling for additional safety measures to be detailed in the Smart Start Schools Reopening Plan, including mandated facial coverings, temperature checks and symptom screenings, and more.”
LEA is a local affiliate of the statewide and national education associations. Their members are employees of FCSD #1 and range from teachers to bus drivers, according to their website.
LEA explains in their release that after conducting a recent survey of Lander educators, it was revealed that there are “serious concerns about safety as students return to in-person studies this fall.”
