(Cody, WY) – The matchup of the season in 3A girls basketball was in Cody Tuesday, as the undefeated Lady Tigers visited the undefeated Lady Broncs. Lander showed they could hang, keeping it close in the first half, but the Lady Broncs proved to be too much with star player, Grace Hayes, scoring 31, many of which came from Lander turnovers.
“They’re (Cody) a really good team,” said coach Powell after the game. “We’ve got some things to work on.”
But Lander has quick players too, and they showed glimmers of light on the defensive end with Hollingshead’s and Reinhardt’s rebounding and steals. Amongst the team shooting, Daisy Goklish performed well with a pair of quick 3’s in the second quarter and some baskets inside. Breanna Lincoln was the brightest spot for the Tigers with a pair of 3’s in the first and scoring on fast breaks from turnovers she’d caused in the 4th.
Junior Paisley Hollingshead rushed down court on a breakaway for Lander. Junior guard Daisy Goklish pulled up for a quick two against Cody. 
Rylee Spiess shrugged off her defender as she looked to get the ball in the paint. Madi Arneach dribbled around the perimeter as the Lady Tigers tried to set their offense.

The girls head southeast to Rawlins for the Winter Classic Friday, where they’ll play another top team in #3 Douglas at noon. On Saturday, they’ll face Glenrock at 10:30 a.m. and Rawlins at 4:30 p.m.
