(Cowley, WY) – The Lander Legends beat Cheyenne 11-9 in a back-and-forth battle Friday afternoon in Cowley. So far, the Legends are 2-0 at the 2024 American Legion C State Tournament after beating Gillette Thursday morning.
Gage Toups pitched 5 strong innings in relief to keep Lander in the game. Lander fell behind in the bottom of the sixth as Cheyenne took a 9-8 lead. But Lander came out strong in the top of the 7th with a lead-off single by Isaac Oland. Pruitt Weaver pinch-ran for Oland and scored the tying run on a leaping dive around the catcher on a double by Dane Kramer. Gage Toups came up with a two RBI singles to allow Lander to take an 11-9 lead. Grady Eagle then came in to close the game. Striking out the final two batters to shut the door and send Lander to the semi-final game!
Legends play tomorrow, Saturday, at 7 p.m.!
