(Lander, WY) – With a current push-pull weight of 1250lbs in the 100-kilo class (220 pounds), Lander resident Jason Hilger has now broken 10 records and moved to the level of professional powerlifter.
Hilger went from local, state, western state championships, IPL Worlds, and now WRPF Professional Powerlifting. Completely skipping nationals.
“I’m pretty much starting from the bottom up again,” he shared about joining the professional powerlifting platform.
Starting from the bottom up again doesn’t deter him from having any goals.
“My overall goal is, by the end of this year, my overall goal will be to be ranked amongst the top five in the world as a push-pull competitor. So, for bench press and deadlift, that’s what’s classified as a push-pull competitor. And I’m trying by the end of this or the beginning of next year, I’m trying to make the top five in the world for world rankings. I think it’s doable.”
Between the two lifts for the push-pull category, he thinks that if he gets up to a total weight of 1300 or 1325 pounds in his 100-kilo class, that should put him in the top five in the world.
“And then my overall end goal is to compete in the Eisenhart Challenge,” Hilger shared. “It’s actually in Germany. You have to be invited to that one. It’s very difficult to get into. That’s something that I’m really working towards as well.”
His last meet was in June, so he is currently in the off-season, which gives him time to relax mentally and work on different aspects of training.
