(Lander, WY) – Representatives from 54 Fremont County nonprofits gathered in City Park Friday to receive their Challenge 4 Charity checks at the annual ceremony.
The fundraiser, which began in 2011, raised from 142 donors in this year’s matching fund, and managed to raise almost $900,000 for local organizations. This year, 22 organizations met or exceeded the matching cap of $10,000 at a 30% match.
Executive director of the Lander Community Foundation, Mary Greene, smiled at the crowd as she boasted about this year’s big numbers.
“When you give to charity through us, your dollar will always go further,” she said.
The year-over-year growth of the fundraiser is impressive, having come close to a million this year, up from $148,000 in its first year. The event has raised 11 million dollars since 2011, and 4.5 million of that in just the last 5 years.
