(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that one to two inches of snow fell around the Riverton-Lander area overnight last night, and the snow will be ending this morning, April 24, with perhaps an inch of snow accumulation over South Pass, as the cold front moved south into the southern Wind River Mountains before stalling. Lipson says another one to three inches of snow is expected on Togwotee Pass this morning.
In the Wind River Basin and Lander foothills, it will be partly sunny today, and much colder behind last night’s cold front, with a high only around 40 degrees. Winds will be backing to the northwest at 15 to 25 mph, with some gusts up to 30 mph.
Tonight a low pressure center that has been spinning around Saskatchewan, Canada will swing another trough through our area tonight, and this weather system will likely drop another one to three inches of snow across South Pass and three to five inches on Togwotee Pass. Here in the Wind River Basin, less than half an inch of snow is expected, if anything, and otherwise it will be partly to mostly cloudy and cold tonight, with lows in the low- to mid-20s. It’ll be blustery, especially in the evening, with a north wind of 15 to 25 miles per hour.
For Saturday, conditions will be mostly sunny and crisp with a high in the low 50s.
