(Lander, WY) – Who She Is, the animated documentary highlighting the stories of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women from Wyoming’s Wind River Reservation, continues to receive accolades, and recently won “Best Documentary – Cultural” at the Heartland Emmy® awards. It was also nominated for “Best Director.”
Created by Caldera Productions and directed by Jordan Dresser and Sophie Barksdale, the film has earned national acclaim as it continues to shine a light on the MMIW epidemic.

“This film was made with the intention of sharing the stories and lives of Sheila, Abby, Jocelyn and Lela,” Dresser added. “The film winning an Emmy will bring more awareness to these stories and help humanize all those touched by the Missing Murdered Indigenous Relatives movement. It is also our hope that the film helps create a space where victims of human trafficking and domestic violence can not only speak freely about their experiences but also know that there are resources to help them heal in a meaningful way.”

Barksdale also shared that Wyoming PBS has committed to broadcasting the film for an encore presentation, and to “keep an eye out on local WYPBS listings to view the film.”
