(Lander, WY) – The LOR Foundation, a philanthropic group that acts as “a start-up accelerator for community-driven ideas,” recently celebrated the various groups, organizations, and individuals whose projects/ideas LOR has helped fund, with a retro-themed lunch.
The appreciation meal was held at the Free Church in Lander, with food prepared by Linda Williamson from the Meadowlark Market, who used almost all local ingredients. The retro theme extended to the food menu, which included dishes like “Tunnel of Fudge cake,” a Pillsbury classic recipe (but don’t worry, no Jello-mold or aspic spreads made the cut).
In addition to the retro food, attendees got to leave messages for LOR on an old rotary phone, and LOR workers were busy taking Polaroid-style photos of attendees.
“Every once and while LOR likes to pull all the community members who have spearheaded the most recent projects together. Sometimes we play a game (pub quiz, BINGO, etc.), sometimes we just share about everyone’s projects, and sometimes, we just want to give everyone a chance to chat with their neighbors doing cool things in the community,” commented LOR Foundation’s Lander Community Officer Ami Vincent.
“I know the gatherings have been a success when I hear ‘Ami, I had no idea so many cool things were happening. I exchanged contact info with a couple people and we are going to see how we can collaborate.'”

While it would be amazing to have the LOR Foundation stay in Lander forever, the organization stays in communities for a set amount of time before moving to a new location. LOR will only be in Lander for about another year, so be sure to reach out to them with any ideas that could improve the community, both big and small!
