(Lander, WY) – During the 2024 legislative session, Senate File 32 was passed and signed into law by Governor Gordon, which classified Delta-8 THC as a Schedule 1 drug, and officially went into effect on July 1.
On July 9, the Lander Police Department (LPD) shared an announcement on their Facebook page that they would like to “inform the public that the possession, sale, and distribution of Delta-8 THC is now illegal in the state of Wyoming. Delta-8 THC, a compound found in cannabis, has been classified as a scheduled 1 drug and is illegal under state law.”
“We urge all residents and businesses to comply with the new regulations to avoid any legal repercussions,” the announcement continues. “Our officers will be conducting regular checks to ensure adherence to the law. Possession or sale of Delta-8 THC will result in appropriate legal action.”
Additionally, the law changes the definitions of the Wyoming Hemp Act under Wyoming State Statute 11-51-101 et al., and specifically adds “with no synthetic substance” to the definition of hemp.
The law also prohibits a process to “add, alter, or otherwise include any synthetic substance into hemp or help products produced, processed or sold in accordance with this chapter.”
