(Lander, WY) – The Lander Police Department is advising of a recent phone scam, according to a post shared on the LPD Facebook page on July 10.
The post states that the LPD has received multiple reports involving scammers calling from 307-332-3401, the Department number, where the victims are told they have missed subpoenas to court and have warrants for their arrest.
The scammers then reportedly demand money to pay off bond amounts, all while using a “masking technology to disguise their real identity.”
“LPD is notifying citizens to not pay any money over the phone when called and to not give any personal information,” the post continues. “If there is any uncertainty, hang up and call LPD back or our Dispatch center at 307-332-3131.”
