On EMS Appreciation Day, the Riverton EMS station started their morning with hot coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and a heartfelt thank you from McDonald’s of Central Wyoming. In honor of EMS Week, Owner Tim Postel and his team delivered breakfast to nine members of the hardworking Riverton EMS crew, taking a moment to recognize the people who are always ready, no matter the time or situation.

“We wanted to take the opportunity to thank you all,” said Postel. “We are happy we could participate in EMS Week. But every day you should be appreciated. We shouldn’t have to have a special week to express our gratitude. So thank you every day.”
Carol Harper, Administrative Assistant at the station, echoed the sentiment: “It’s one week out of the year. But you know, we are here 24/7, 365.”
During the visit, Carol gave the McDonald’s and County 10 crew a tour of the station and ambulance bay, explaining the crew’s daily routine of equipment checks and prep before each shift. “The crew comes on shift every morning and does a check on the ambulance to make sure they have all their supplies, make sure everything’s charged and ready to go if they need it.”
Frontier Ambulance’s Director of Operations, Diane Lane, noted the scale of their work—running five emergency rigs and a transfer vehicle across 10,000 square miles of Fremont County, including Riverton, Lander, and Dubois.
“We average between 15 and 22 calls a day, split up between all five stations,” Diane added. “We had a day a couple of weeks ago where we had 33. And now we’re coming into trauma season. The weather is nice, and people will be engaging in numerous outdoor recreational activities. Memorial Day Weekend is the start to our busy season.”
Before heading out, Tim Postel shared a few personal stories of moments when he had relied on EMS professionals and wrapped up the visit with a final message: “Thank you for sharing things. We appreciate you, and be safe out there.”
