Before the first whistle blew and long before the sun had a chance to warm the fields, McDonald’s of Central Wyoming was already hard at work, turning a cold Saturday morning into something special at the Rampage Rumble Spring Soccer Tournament in Riverton.
Arriving at 6:30 a.m., the McDonald’s team didn’t just bring breakfast—they made it. Right there on-site, under a McDonald’s tent that quickly became the busiest stop at the fields, biscuits were baked fresh in a portable oven while sausage and scrambled eggs sizzled on griddles. And the gravy? Homemade by Riverton McDonald’s Manager Shannon Rowles, adding a personal touch that didn’t go unnoticed.
While the original focus was on feeding referees before the games began, McDonald’s came fully prepared to serve anyone who stopped by. With enough food ready for referees, players, and families alike, the team made sure no one started their day on an empty stomach, especially on a bitterly cold Wyoming morning.
Players, families, and spectators arriving at the fields were greeted with the comforting aroma of a hot breakfast and an even warmer welcome. On a morning where breath hung in the air and hands stayed tucked in pockets, a fresh, hearty meal made all the difference.
“Starting the tournament with McDonald’s breakfast for our referees, players, and families was a huge win,” said Rachel Mejorado, RYSA Challenger Camp Coordinator. “It brought smiles all around and created a great atmosphere right from the first whistle.”
The appreciation was immediate and widespread. With more than 65 teams traveling from across Wyoming, the gesture reached far beyond the local community. For many visiting families, it was their first impression of Riverton and it came with a hot meal and genuine hospitality.
As the morning moved along, a steady line formed at the McDonald’s tent as people stopped by to grab breakfast before heading over to the referees’ tent or back to the fields. The operation ran smoothly, keeping everyone fueled and ready for a full day of soccer.
It was a simple idea, executed in a big way. Proof that sometimes the strongest sense of community is built through thoughtful planning, early mornings, and a team willing to show up and serve.
