(Riverton, WY) – Yesterday afternoon, October 4, County 10 received tips about a young bull moose that found itself trapped in the concrete canal near the 100 block of Webbwood Road in Riverton.
“Game and Fish Wardens and Biologists, as well as Riverton PD and Sheriff’s Deputies, responded to a report of a young bull moose unable to get out of a canal in Riverton,” Wyoming Game and Fish Department Information and Education Supervisor Rene Schell shared with County 10, adding that a few private citizens were on-scene providing assistance as well.

GF Wildlife Biologist Stan Harter used an immobilization dart on the moose, which he explained uses a “capture drug” that usually combines anesthesia, tranquilizers, and pain relievers.
“All parties helped load the moose into a GF trailer, and Game and Fish transported him miles outside of town and released him into more appropriate moose habitat,” Schell also informed.
