Tuesday morning, County 10 reported that the Riverton Police Department was investigating several reports of broken windows across the community.
Several vehicle windows had been reported broken out in the areas of 12th and 16th streets, as well as more across town on S. 4th West.
Additionally, a man was arrested for breaking windows in at least two downtown Riverton businesses early Tuesday morning. 32-year-old Lander man Charles Haukass was arrested at 5:34 a.m. after allegedly breaking windows at the Bank of the West building and at Hoffman Electric. He was charged with Felony Property Damage.
Several additional reports were filed Tuesday of vehicles being damaged. Vandalism was again on 16th Street, and also on Diamond Drive, which is near Smith Road.
Riverton Police Department Captain Todd Byerly said he did not believe that the man arrested for breaking business windows was the same person responsible for the broken vehicle windows, saying they “appear to be unrelated.”
Byerly said that the vehicle windows have all been damaged by rocks that were thrown through them. “We do ask that if anyone in these neighborhoods have video surveillance for them to please review it for any suspicious activity,” he said.
