(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, March 14, will once again be very windy ahead of an approaching cold front, with west winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour. Highs will be around 60 degrees under partly sunny skies. Lipson says we could see a few showers toward sunset as the front approaches.
With this strong westerly flow continuing to transport Pacific moisture into northwest Wyoming, Togwotee Pass should pick up another 8 to 14 inches of new snow by the end of the day.
The strong cold front pushing south will lead to precipitation spreading to areas east of the divide, where rain will turn to snow in the Wind River Basin, with only a skiff of snow accumulating. Togwotee Pass will likely see another 2 to 4 inches of snow with the front, and we can expect strong west winds to continue to gust at speeds of 55 miles per hour in the evening. After the frontal passage, the winds will veer to the north at 20 to 30 miles per hour. Under cloudy skies, lows will drop to 20 degrees.
For tomorrow, Sunday, it will be much colder behind the cold front, with highs 25 degrees colder than today, in the mid-30s. North winds will blow at 15 to 25 miles per hour, and skies will be partly sunny.
