(Dubois, WY) – The National Museum of Military Vehicles invites the community to a free special event on Aug. 7, National Purple Heart Day, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
The special event will feature insightful remarks from General (Ret) Eric Shinseki, 34th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army and Chairman of the Army Historical Foundation.
Additional presentations will be delivered by BG (Ret) Burt Thompson, President of the Army Historical Foundation, and Tammy Call, Director of the National Museum of the Army.
The program will conclude with a question-and-answer session. This occasion offers a unique opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about the National Museum of the Army and the Army Historical Foundation directly from its esteemed senior leadership.
National Purple Heart Day – Aug 7
The Purple Heart is awarded to every service member who is killed or wounded as a result of enemy action while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Purple Heart was established by George Washington in 1782 and is the nation’s first and oldest military medal.
The U.S. designates August 7 every year as National Purple Heart Day to remind Americans that more than 1.8 million of our service members have been killed or wounded in combat on behalf of the U.S.
Please fly your American flag on August 7 to honor our Purple Heart recipients and show Gold Star families we remember their loss. The National Museum of Military Vehicles is a Purple Heart Museum. We will fly the Purple Heart flag and all of our flags at half-staff on August 7.
