(Riverton, WY) – The National Weather Service in Riverton (NWSR) celebrated the New Year by snapping some great photos last night of the Aurora Borealis from their office located at 12744 US-26.
The NWSR shared that at the time of the photo in the featured image, the Kp index had jumped to 7, which resulted in the vibrant colors.
They also captured the following image earlier in the night when the index was a bit lower.
