(Fremont County, WY) – A new scam text campaign is targeting Wyoming phone numbers (area code 307), with messages appearing to come from primarily Philippine numbers (+63). These texts impersonate the “Wyoming Department of Vehicles” and falsely claim you have an outstanding traffic ticket.
According to several of the text messages shared with County 10, the scam threatens suspension of your vehicle registration and driving privileges, DMV reporting, added service fees and legal action, and damage to your credit score.
The texts shown to County 10 warn of action unless payment is made by a specific date, and may include a link to a fake payment site. Scammers vary the URLs to avoid spam filters.
CyberWyoming points out that this scam is especially deceptive because it mixes authentic-sounding details with false threats to seem legitimate.
The group advises:

- Delete it
