(Lander, WY) – Lander Volunteer Fire Department Chief Eric Siwik shared with County 10 on Tuesday morning, April 14, that there were no injuries in the reported April 13 house fire on Vance Drive in Lander.
“At approximately 1:50 PM yesterday, the Lander Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 800 block of Vance Street,” Chief Siwik said. “Upon arrival, crews found the back of the house fully involved with fire extending into the living space and attic.”
In total, the LVFD responded with an Engine, Ladder Truck, Rescue Truck and Two Commands with 12 people, and the Fremont County Fire Protection District provided additional support with crews from Battalion 3- Lander Rural, Battalion 10- Hudson, and Battalion 1- Central (Riverton) with approximately 15 more firefighters.
“Crews were able to successfully knock down the fire in approximately an hour and remained on scene for mop-up operations and monitored hot spots,” Chief Siwik went on to share. “All crews were released by approximately 5:30 PM.”
The cause is currently under investigation with assistance from the Wyoming State Fire Marshals’ Office.
