(Fremont County, WY) – The National Weather Service in Riverton has shared that another round of late-April snow is expected to return to portions of central Wyoming tonight, April 29.
The NWSR says that a quick-moving disturbance will bring a period of moderate to heavy precipitation, specifically in the Wind River Basin and Lander Foothills areas. Precipitation is expected to begin after sunset, with the heaviest period likely to occur after midnight as the rain transitions to snow and persists through sunrise Thursday.
Snow accumulation is expected to be mainly limited to grassy surfaces, the NWSR shared, but some hazardous road conditions are possible Thursday morning, especially from Lander to South Pass and Beaver Rim.
Snow accumulation of 1-3 inches is expected in Lander, with localized amounts of 4-5 inches along the foothills. Smaller amounts, from a trace to an inch, are possible for other locations, such as Riverton.
