(Fremont County, WY) – The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Flood Advisory for southeastern Fremont County, effective until 5 PM, September 18.
The NWSR says minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is expected, alone with overflowing in poor drainage areas and ponding of water in urban or other areas.
“At 1:55 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms,” the NWSR informs in the advisory. “Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.3 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include… Riverton, Arapahoe, Hudson, Arapahoe Elementary School, St. Stephens, and Fremont County Fairgrounds.”
