(Fremont County, WY) – The National Weather Service in Riverton has shared some of the coldest recorded low temperatures across western and central Wyoming over the past two days, with a few areas in Fremont County making the cut.
Riverton, Lander, and Shoshoni all dropped to the lower to mid -20’s this morning, January 21, with Pavillion right behind at -18 degrees.
Here’s a look at yesterday morning’s even colder temperatures (January 20), which recorded a -40 degree low in the area of Yellowstone’s Old Faithful, and many areas in Fremont County in the -20’s.
The NWSR also shared that the extent of the recent cold is even pushing into the south of the country, where below-zero temperatures are occurring “as far down as Oklahoma and Arkansas.”
“Teens and even snow (are) expected for portions along the Gulf from Texas to Florida,” the NWSR also informs.
