(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, April 2, a moisture-laden upper-difluent southwest flow will increase our precipitation coverage and intensity over the area, as a well-defined low-pressure center tracks to Idaho. Lipson says to expect occasional rain showers today, along with a possible isolated lightning strike in southeast Fremont County (Jeffrey City area), with highs in the low 60s.
It will be windy today as well, with southwest winds of 20-30, along with gusts of 40 mph.
Tonight, the low-pressure center will track across north-central Wyoming, with colder air streaming in from the north, around the backside of the low. This will change our occasional rain to occasional snowfall, with winds veering from southwest to north-northeast at 20-30 mph, gusting to 40 mph, and mostly cloudy, with lows dropping to around 30 degrees.
Lipson added that we could wake up to an inch or less of new snow by Friday morning in the Riverton-Lander area.
