(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, April 17, will see occasional snowfall with snow tapering off to snow showers by the afternoon, under mostly cloudy skies.
Lipson says it will be colder today, with a high around 40 degrees as colder air wraps around the back side of the exiting low-pressure center.
By midday today, expect snowstorm totals of up to one to three inches in both Lander and Riverton, five to seven inches on South Pass, three to five inches in Moneta, 10 to 18 inches on Togwotee Pass, and two to four inches on Beaver Rim. Any snow that accumulates in the Wind River Basin and in the Lander foothills will melt fairly quickly during the afternoon, and this weather event will likely be the wettest precipitation maker in quite a while.
Tonight will be partly cloudy and cold, with lows in the mid-to-upper-teens, and we may see a lingering snow flurry in the evening, as well as patchy fog late tonight. Tomorrow, Saturday, we can expect patchy fog until around 9:30 AM, but otherwise, it will be sunny, cool, and crisp with a high of around 50 degrees.
