(Fremont County, WY) – Two traffic stops in both Fremont and Hot Springs counties in the last week led to 54 grams of heroin being recovered by the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Both times drivers and their occupants, all Wyoming residents, were traveling from Utah to Worland.
The first traffic stop was last week on US-20 near milepost 145 where 23 grams of black tar heroin was recovered. According to Lt. Travis Hauser, the trooper could smell the odor of marijuana, and when the front seat passenger got out of the vehicle, a small black baggie fell out onto the ground which contained black tar heroin.
“It was later determined that they had a large hidden quantity of black tar heroin that was discovered at the detention center and with that stop there were numerous items of paraphernalia, marijuana and scales located in the vehicle,” Lt. Hauser shared.
The second traffic stop happened last night outside of Hudson where 31 grams of heroin was recovered.
Everybody in the vehicle had very inconsistent stories, according to Lt. Hauser. So the trooper asked if there were any drugs in the vehicle, and they admitted to having a marijuana pipe, which was located during a search. In searching the vehicle, they found 6.8 grams of black tar heroin and 24.2 grams of basic heroin.
“In Worland, for this one, I know that’s a street value of $18,600,” Lt. Hauser noted.
No other information is being released at this time.
